Notes

  • 1940 on Oahu; prob. introduced during early part of 20th century
  • Description digitized by pumehana
  • Description digitized from the Manual of the Flowering Plants of Hawaii
  • Native from Paraguay to southern Brazil and northern Argentina, widely cultivated in tropical regions; in Hawai'i commonly cultivated and often escaping, now sparingly naturalized probably on all of the main islands, but not documented from Ni'ihau, Lana'i, or Kaho'olawe. Fruit has not been observed on plants of Anredera cordifolia in Hawai'i and presumably it has spread via the axillary tubers.
